This event is free and open to the public.
Join the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts at New Hampshire’s historic legislative chambers
to hear 12 high school poetry champions recite great poetry & compete for the opportunity to represent New Hampshire at the National Poetry Out Loud Championship in Washington, DC - April, 2011.
New Hampshire Speaker of the House of Representatives William O’Brien will open the event and welcome students.
Virginia Prescott, host of New Hampshire Public Radio-produced Word of Mouth, will be master of ceremonies.
Poetry Out Loud (POL) is a national arts education program for high schools students and helps young people develop an appreciation for the beauty and power of language through the study of great poetry.
